Welcome

These web pages introduce the Vale Royal String Orchestra whose membership comprises experienced string players based in Mid Cheshire. We play for the love of music and to support local charities.

We have professional conductors to direct us and usually give two concerts during the course of the year and an annual workshop.

This year’s music workshop was held on 18th October in Sandiway under the direction of Stephen Threlfall. We explored:

HANS GAL: Serenade Op.46 and
SHOSTAKOVICH: Chamber Symphony Op110a

Our first concert of the season will be in St Peter’s Little Budworth on Saturday 14th March 2026 with a provisional programme of Baroque Music featuring:

Vivaldi Symphonia in G RV149
Paganelli Concerto in F for chalumeau with soloist David Stockhill
Gemininani Concerto Grosso Op5/5
CPE Bach Symphony in G Major WQ182
Bach Cantata BWV82 Ich habe Genug with soloists Jane Holmes (oboe) and Jeremy Hagen (bass)

The second concert of the season will be on Sunday 15th June at Vale Royal Abbey.
